Overview

The Solar Home System (SHS) Project was a small-scale program of activities aimed to promote the electrification of rural Bangladesh with electricity from SHS for which capacity typically ranges from 20 to 135 Wp, with the electricity generated used by end users for their own purposes. The project consisted of two Component Project Activity implementers, Grameen Shakti (GS) and Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL). IDCOL was the Coordinating/Managing Entity of this program of activities and implements the program, a voluntary initiative, through 46 CPA Project Operators who have given up their ownership of emission reductions to IDCOL, except for GS, one of the major project operators of IDCOL, who has retained ownership of the emission reductions generated by its SHS activities.
